Hello, I am wondering if there is a way to network with other people interested in opening a float center who might want a partner, or existing centers who might be looking for additional partners. I currently live in Ashland, OR, which seems like a perfect place for a center. There are no existing centers here, and the town is very oriented towards wellness and organic foods, etc. Commercial space is, however, very limited and I am having trouble finding a place to lease that is willing to let me do the necessary improvements. So, I have begun to broaden my search and am open to all possibilities, including moving out of state. I have a decent amount of capital to contribute and have been working with Float On in Portland, to write up my business plan for additional funding. I really believe in floating as a healing tool both emotionally and physically and would love to collaborate with someone else to bring a center to Ashland or to another area. Please let me know if you are interested or if you have any suggestions. Thank you.

Dreamwater Float Co (makers of the Dreampod) might be interested in partnering up with upcoming Float Centers. Contact us via email, and lets chat!

Thanks,

Michael

Best of luck!  I'm trying to expand in Hawaii but most rent for ground floor commercial spaces are around $4 - $5 sq/ft !

No, I mean 8 weeks. I'm resurrecting and evangelizing the 8-week continuous float, having done 6 weeks myself. Harry Palmer was the first and the patron saint of my religion. His experience is chronicled in his free online book "Living Deliberately"

My own religion based around long-term continuous floating is Isolation Tank Gnosis and the Holy Book is available here:

Hi Seth, I also started looking for commercial space here in San Jose, CA and found it rough going. That doesnt mean it would not have happened but it is not a cake walk.

My focus is on offering floating on a not-for-profit basis or low-profit basis. I have a religious book in the works based around the isolation tank -http://isolationtankgnosis.pressbooks.com/

My focus is on extremely long floats - 1 week to 8 weeks in length. I almost prefer setting up a space in a residential setting to eliminate the hassle of dealing with a landlord and the possibility of people leasing space near you to wreck your ambience (such as this -http://www.wefloat.net/index.php/floatation-therapy-forum/sound-proofing-wall-gym-moved-next-door-sigh)

I believe float centers should be open 24 hours a day, especially during the late night hours so one can play with the transition between sleep and wakefulness.

If you have capital, then True REST franchising could certainly help you with the demographics of opening a commercial center in a commercial space.

You mean hours not weeks, right? (⊙_◎)

I'd seriously consider the Float Conference in Portland. That'd probably be your best bet for networking and meeting people in the industry. There should be a banner add on the top of the page that'll link you straight there.

Good luck!
