Congrats Kim. This is a good questin and one that will probably get a lot of responses. I'll address the easy one first. You can find news stories quickly by google searching "floatation therapy" and then selcting the "News" option at the top of the screen. I believe you can also subscribe to that search. Another way of collecting news stories is follow twitter accounts related to floatation therapy and look at other center's Facebook pages as they often get posted there. This site should have a news article submission area soon.
As for getting clients, this is a bit harder and will force some choices. Aside from grand openings, we have found print media to be costly and hardly effective at generating business. It is more about branding. Get in front of people. Find other professionals to collaborate with. Get active on social media. Pay to boost some posts about your upcoming opening. Have FB likes contests and other campaigns to generate interest. Host an evening with refreshments and share about floatation there. Draft and distribute press releases to all your media outlets. Distribute door hangers.
Daily deals are another way to get customers quick, but you will pay dearly for them and you really need to understand that monster before getting involved.
Good luck and feel free to ask more.
Social Media is free, many people can guide you in effective use.
Good Luck with your new centre ... I am going through the exact same thing right now in Canada, so I feel your pain and share your joy!
