Twitter is a great resource ... if you choose to follow me, you can retweet some of the media articles I have found and posted.

Social Media is free, many people can guide you in effective use.

Good Luck with your new centre ... I am going through the exact same thing right now in Canada, so I feel your pain and share your joy!

Hi Bart, I will look at setting up a new account as we've not used twitter, We will most defiantly be following you. Thank you for the offer to retweet, I look forward to seeing what twitters you tweet, particularly since we're at similar stages.

Yes lots of highs and lows along the road the high when the pods arrived awesome.. Cant wait to open those doors :)

Thanks for the warm welcome.1. Launceston Tasmania.2. Web address www.gfloats.com.au feed back would be much appreciated.3. No, Can you let me know how to do that please?4. Mailing list? if you mean gfloats email less than 10. we have started a FB page its also minimal.5. No but we were thinking of contacting the media. This is the first float centre in Tasmania as far as we know. We're hoping they might do a story as its something new? This is defiantly not my strong point.

PS - A mailing list sign up doesn't need to ask for more than an email address. A name is fine to ask. Some centers ask a few questions to try and see who people are or why they want to float.

But a required phone field is a no-no. Your form has a required (*) phone field. It's fine to have a phone field on a standard contact form once you're open, but never as a required field before opening.

Kim... the first center in Tasmania? Why didn't you say so! :)

That's quite an accomplishment. Congrats to you. You should hype that some more on your website, and yes contact the media. There's totally a story there.

Your website looks great. The thing that is missing is a mailing list for people to sign up for notifications. Progress alerts, pre-opening, opening, special offers, etc. Ask your webmaster to integrate a newsletter sign up form using MailChimp, a Wordpress forms plug in or similar mechanism. We can do that for you too as a hired service. And marketing assistance. (Send me a message for more info.) Clicking the "Book Now" button should take someone to the sign up form, either as a pop-up or a form on the Contact page.

I'd be more specific about when you're opening.. month or season. 2015 .. we're halfway through it. :-)

WeFloat, floatationlocations.com, floatation.com, where-to-float.com .. all of these sites have ways to list your center on a directory. I'd do that ASAP if I were you.

Hi Kim,

Congrats and welcome to the board. :-)

1. Which city are you in?

2. What's your website?

3. Are you listed on the float center directories?

4. What's the size of your mailing list?

5. Do you have any connections in the local media (television or journalism)?

We aren't open yet so I can't really help with the client side of your question. I'm also based in the US so things might be different for you. But the way I get news updates is through Google Alerts. By setting up keywords like "floatation therapy" or "float spa" you'll get relevent news and posts related to the keywords. You can set them up to receive them immediatley after Google crawls them (about an hour after post) or get summaries in whatever frequency you like. I get summaries daily about Floataion Therapy and they really show how much it's growing!

I've also tested out Google Adwords and Bing Ads to see how they operate. You'll get some exposure there, but hose services really take some tweaking and some SEO knowledge to get any real results out of them. I'd avoid it until you know who you actually want to target.

I agree with Kane. The best way to get noticed is to get out there and get in front of people. Print business cards and put them everywhere. Make some T-Shirts with your URL (gotta have a website) and wear them all day, everyday. Engage your future customers now and they'll show up later.

Hi Brent,

My biggest issue was finding the latest news, you have been a great help thanks.

Gordy have been giving out pamphlets and business cards for a few months now, he has generated quite an interest in floating.

Shirts for uniform are ordered but yes. I could get Gordy to wear one EVERY WHERE :) Fab idea. A jumper perhaps its winter now I could be pushing my luck with a t shirt lol.

Thank you :)

Congrats Kim. This is a good questin and one that will probably get a lot of responses. I'll address the easy one first. You can find news stories quickly by google searching "floatation therapy" and then selcting the "News" option at the top of the screen. I believe you can also subscribe to that search. Another way of collecting news stories is follow twitter accounts related to floatation therapy and look at other center's Facebook pages as they often get posted there. This site should have a news article submission area soon.

As for getting clients, this is a bit harder and will force some choices. Aside from grand openings, we have found print media to be costly and hardly effective at generating business. It is more about branding. Get in front of people. Find other professionals to collaborate with. Get active on social media. Pay to boost some posts about your upcoming opening. Have FB likes contests and other campaigns to generate interest. Host an evening with refreshments and share about floatation there. Draft and distribute press releases to all your media outlets. Distribute door hangers.

Daily deals are another way to get customers quick, but you will pay dearly for them and you really need to understand that monster before getting involved.

Good luck and feel free to ask more.

Hi Kane, Thankyou very helpful info. The "news" option on google I always go web thankyou I will look into subscribing to search.

I have never tried twitter I'll look into that also.

We have been discussing a grand opening. but were a bit lost with how to go about it. A tour of the centre explaining the process and benefits of floating? Watch a video? Free float give always

? How many people would you suggest we invite we have three pods and a nice sized "chill out " room.

drafting a press release great advice I was going to use the phone thanks.

A door hanger mmm what is that please?

Daily deals we would prefer to stay away from if possible. We have been talking a lot to anyone with ears pretty much lol. We have had quite a lot of positive feed back :) totally appreciate your time and advice thank you.
